"We strive to be a beacon of hope, enlightenment, and progress — fulfilling our religious and social responsibilities to every Malawian."
The Muslim Association of Malawi was established in March 1957 as the Nyasaland Muslim Association — formed after Muslim elders realised that Muslim children were being denied secular education. In 1968 the name was changed to MAM. Today MAM serves as the umbrella body for Malawi's Muslim community, promoting Islamic values, community well-being, and harmony with all Malawians regardless of faith.
From establishing the Blantyre Islamic Mission and Bilali Clinic in 1981, to drilling solar boreholes across six districts, building schools in Kasungu and Mangochi, and constructing houses for the underprivileged through Sharjah Charity — MAM has worked across all 28 districts for nearly seven decades with 30 affiliated organisations.
Education, healthcare, water, mosques, housing, relief, Qurban, and Iftar — serving Malawians across all 28 districts since 1957.
